Sherwood Lawrence

Founder, Entrepreneur, Certified Financial Coach

Sherwood is the founder of BeTheMoneyTree. With a diverse background in advertising, communications, technology, business, and entrepreneurship, he is always fascinated by the intersection of communications and technology and finance.

Sherwood earned a Bachelors and Masters degree in Advertising and Mass Communications at the University of Florida, paying his way through school by building computers and computer networks at the College of Journalism.  

His early professional career included a media planning internship at a global advertising agency in New York, starting an Internet consulting company, teaching Microsoft network engineering classes, and roles in network support, software testing, and program management at Microsoft.

After over a decade of intense technology focus, he left Microsoft and cofounded Top of Mind Networks, a marketing startup in the mortgage industry.  Over the next sixteen years, he helped build a CRM SAAS platform, successfully competing against Salesforce and other CRM platforms. He became an expert in every facet of running and growing a business and successfully completed the sale of the business in 2018.

After exiting Top of Mind Networks, he enjoyed spending time investing in other small businesses, trading stocks and options, starting an organic farm operation, reading voraciously, listening to music, and playing recreational sports.

For Sherwood, BeTheMoneyTree has been a passion project for a very long time. What started as a way to teach his kids about money, life, business, and how to really follow their bliss, has evolved into a coaching and consulting service to help anyone who could benefit from his knowledge and expertise.

The world needs substantially better and more compassionate training on how to manage money and business and quality of life.  The mission of BeTheMoneyTree is to help as many people as possible, get the information they need, the skills they need, and the perspectives they need, to achieve their dreams.
